The Minimalist Bible

In the Beginning…

Before names, before nations, before laws and temples, there was God. And when asked for His name, God said: “I AM THAT I AM.”

God is not a being among beings. God is Being itself—eternal, present, unchanging. And to humanity, restless and afraid, God says: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

The Way of Jesus

In the fullness of time, Jesus came among the poor, the sick, the forgotten, and the sinful. He did not arrive with armies or wealth, but with compassion and truth.

He taught that the kingdom of God is near—not built by force, but awakened within hearts transformed by love. He called people to repent: to turn away from fear, pride, hatred, and greed, and to return to God with humility.

The Teachings

Jesus taught: Blessed are the meek, the merciful, and the peacemakers. Love God with all your heart. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Forgive those who wrong you. Care for the poor. Do not live by anxiety.
Do not judge hypocritically. Seek truth in secret rather than praise in public.

He taught that greatness is found in service, and that whoever exalts himself will be humbled. He warned against storing treasures on earth while neglecting the soul.

He said that God is like a loving father welcoming home a lost child, like a shepherd seeking one lost sheep, like a sower planting seeds in human hearts.

The Sheep and the Goats or "the Judgement of the Nations" is a pronouncement of Jesus recorded in chapter 25 of the Gospel of Matthew, through which Jesus strongly encourages his followers to take action to help those in need. He indicates that, in order to go to Heaven, one must actively help people in need. Through it, Jesus explains that helping a person, whoever the person may be, is just the same as helping Jesus himself.
